Summary/Abstract: The present study deals with the tradition of Czech spiritual landscape represented in Čep’s texts. Jan Čep emphasized the landscape’s conservative structures which were capable of preserving the history of the place within themselves. Simultaneously, Čep was aware of the increasing danger to which the structures were exposed. By analogy, the danger corresponded to the danger which threatened the continuity of personality under the pressure of ideologies. Endeavour to preserve any manifestation of creativity is captured especially in Čep’s characters of exiles and pilgrims.
