Summary/Abstract: Anaphora and cataphora are generally defined as forms of the same relationship between two segments (terms, phrases, sentences) in the chain of the statement and the special referential mechanism that makes the interpretation of one of the segments – the anaphora or the cataphora – to be to be conditioned by the presence of the other – the antecedent/the subsequent – in the cotext. This paper discusses the three tendencies manifested in the form of an actual symmetry, partial symmetry and full symmetry of anaphora-cataphora relationship.
