Impact of shopping centers for the functioning of settlement units in the outer metropolitan area in upper Silesian Voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: From the 90s of the XXth century we can observe the dynamic opening of trade centers located both in city centers and in downtowns. This is a result of feedback between the change of consumers’ needs and behaviors and new possibilities in trade. Consumers are more and more concerned about the convenience of shopping and they want to take advantage of promotion, a lot of events and special atmosphere of trade centers. For those reasons a suitable location of a trade centre good accessibility and proper identity system are needed. An important issue is the impact of shopping centers in the settlement units located in the outer metropolitan area.
