Summary/Abstract: The development of economic activities has always affected the state of environmental factors, pollution being one of the fundamental problems of humanity. The main economic enterprises involved in the chemical pollution of the town of Oradea are the industrial companies situated in the W-NW-N part of the town and the old dump site of Oradea, closed down in 2007. The results of the study highlight the following conclusions: the closing of the old dump site won’t generate the exceeding of the limit values in the case of the monitored polluters; in 2008 the average annual concentrations were twice higher than in the previous year in the case of NO2 and SO2 and slightly increasing for particulate matter. It is necessary to continue monitoring the air quality and analysing the risk induced by the chemical pollution of the atmospheric air.
