Conditions relating to the improvement of quality management systems

Summary/Abstract: This aim of this article to identify the main determinants related to the improvement of quality management systems. The author tried to define these conditions on the basis of the analysis of literature and his own research carried out in 170 enterprises operating in Poland. The results show that the firms improving their quality management systems are increasingly focused on the system of environmental management and safety, as well as other tools to enable them to achieve greater operational efficiency and improve performance (for example, elements of the Toyota Production System Lean Management, the Six Sigma methodology). The implementation of these tools enables companies to achieve not only a higher level of technical quality, but also a higher level of organizational efficiency as well as improve the efficiency of processes.
