Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to determine the importance of the quality management system/environment and security, and operational improvement tools (such as TPS, Six Sigma or Lean Management) in building partnerships with suppliers and customers. Companies which are operating in the B2B market have very individualized requirements towards their suppliers through detailed specifications to determine not only the issues related to quality assurance (ensuring technical quality), but also to provide guidance related to the increase of organizational efficiency (shortening cycle processes), efficiency (cost reduction) security measures (both in terms of working conditions, as well as information management), reducing environmental nuisance, and possession of adequate human potential of guaranteeing the implementation of product and process innovations. Taking actions to improve their processes and products more and more players are involved in these activities as their suppliers, especially in the implementation of system tools (putting them appropriate guidance at the stage of assessing suppliers’ ability to meet the stringent requirements), offering them special support programs (called supplier development programs/vendor development programs), thereby also building a mutually beneficial relationship based on the principles of win-win.
