Summary/Abstract: Our society is passing through a unique process of rapid transformation. Therefore, it is no wonder that sociologists are making an increasingly intensive use of comparative sociological surveys (CSS). And deservedly so. The CSS is a very efficient research instrument indeed. There is no better way of keeping track of social dynamics. Both in-depth and dynamic CSSs are made wide use of by Bulgarian researchers. Paradoxically enough, though, the literature on CSSs is quite scarce. Both the methods and the broader methodology of CSSs are inadequately studied. Hence the purpose of this paper -to look into the issue of questionaries as a basic: aspect of any CSS. Two are the most important subjects dealt with in the article. The first one regards the correlation between CSSs and questionaries. Specific CSSs require unique brands of questionaries. The issue of research data comparability and continuity is the other major focus of interest in (he paper. The results from different sociological surveys within the same CSS unfortunately often turn out to be incomparable.
