Summary/Abstract: Primary school teachers organize the teaching process in such a way that learners could find mathematic rules and make conclusions themselves. A new and different material is introduced to pupils through practical activities and is related to their environment, whereas is senior forms and in the system of various subjects it is neglected. Schoolchildren often get much theoretical knowledge but not always they can use it in practice later. Mathematics in grade V is continuation of the material learnt in primary school. If the known facts are ignored it will negatively influence the whole learning process and is against the principle of accessibility – to go from known to unknown. Such a gap between new and earlier learnt things is often noticed in grade V. In the content of teaching Mathematics the biggest part of the time is set for teaching arithmetic, its pecularities and teaching links in grades IV and V are discussed in the paper.
