Summary/Abstract: This paper considers the fundamental changes of cultural patterns of the modern capitalist society. The key point is the theoretical view of Pitiram Sorokin on the contemporary culture, in which culture of the senses is the prevailing concept. This view is expanded with new phenomena in the contemporary culture that favour its sensory character – globalism, the Internet, and art as sensory experience without the idea.
