Summary/Abstract: Most analyses of the changes in the work domain refer to the developed societies. Though there have been general tendencies within the changes themselves, the comprehensive analyses of the movement of the work in the developed countries are not able to identify the milieu in which work is performed in societies with less developed economies. Proceeding from these general tendencies taken from the contemporary theory of work, this analysis shows the work domain changes in the so-called West Balkan countries (Albania, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia). The similar economic conditions (basic resources, climate, geography), as well as the history, culture and traditions, have influence on the convergence of the conditions in which work is performed; however, there are considerable differences resulting from the characteristics of the post-socialist development. This analysis is based on the SEEPSS survey data (South East European Political and Social Survey), conducted in the West Balkan countries in 2003.
