Summary/Abstract: The paper deals the stereotype of the Yiddish mother („jiddise máme“) as it is treated in the novel „Die jiddische Mamme“ written by Rafael Seligmann, a Jewish journalist and writer. The aim of the analysis is to search the answer to the question whether the writer presents the stereotype or fights against it. It presents not only the stereotype of the mother but that of the Jewish and German woman, as well. The analysis demonstrates that these characters fit into the stereotypes that exist in Germany and Israel.
