Technology entrepreneurship marked by risk

Summary/Abstract: Technology entrepreneurship in small and medium-sized enterprises requires taking a lot of decisions, burdened, among others, by risk of cooperation with the elements of the business environment of the people responsible for the process. Therefore, the environment of these entities becomes in fact the determinant of the development of this process in small and medium-sized companies [Kurowska, Matejun, Szymańska 2013, p. 49]. The article presents the results of research concerning the impact: technological advancement, reaction of an enterprise to changes in the environment, the level of volatility of the environment, the predictability of the environment, the intensity of market competition and market position in terms of technology, modernity, quality and price on the perception of risk cooperation with the elements of the business environment in the process of technology entrepreneurship development. The strength of the effect was calculated using Pearson’s contingency coefficients and Spearman’s rank correlation for the data collected from 300 randomly selected companies from the region of Łódź in 2010-2013 within the framework of the research project No. N N115 364839 on technology entrepreneurship in small and mediumsized companies.
