Summary/Abstract: The introductory chapter establishes the importance of civil education for the consolidation of democratic institutions, as well as the capacity of political parties in Serbia to carry out this function. The following is a reflection on compliance of political participants’ behavior in our society with the principles and values of the Curriculum of Civil Education. Further, the relationship between civil education and political parties and democracy, i.e. power (or powerlessness) of the party that has an authoritarian internal structure to carry out democratic educational impact on society, is problematized. The question is what is the purpose of Civil Education in the classroom, if the political participants transfer principles of undemocracy, intolerance and authoritarianism to the public sphere and the social life. Finally, the different forms of formal democratic education within political parties in Serbia, with special reference to the Democratic Party, are reconsidered. In the concluding chapter, the political parties are established as an important agent of political learning in society.
