Summary/Abstract: The paper aims at identifying the changes in regional income inequalities among the EU27 counties in the years 2002-2011 at NUTS 3 level. In order to identify the regional diversification in the level of income disparities, the author used the coefficient of variation. While conducting the research, after years of regional convergence, the observed inequalities significantly increased over the period of 2009-2011. Selected subregions from Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and Hungary were reaching their quickest development, while some subregions from the United Kingdom, Ireland and Greece were falling behind in relation to the EU average level of GDP per capita. The analysis of mean values in the groups of subregions (OECD, EC classification) has revealed the types of subregions characterised by the most beneficial and adverse changes in the mean level of development.
