“Alpine Space Programme” as an example of implementation of coheson policy in mountain areas

Summary/Abstract: Mountain areas are the subject of special concerns of EU cohesion policy due to development problems caused by specific physical features. Despite many efforts all taken attempts to create uniform definition and delimitation criteria of mountain areas have failed. This article has a descriptive and reporting character. The aim of this paper is to present the practical approach of European Union towards the implementation of cohesion policy in Alpine regions and to answer the question which proposals of Cohesion Policy 2014-2020 could be particularly beneficial for mountain areas.
