Summary/Abstract: The article addresses issues relating to social exclusion experienced by Polish people aged 50+. In the first part of the paper, the author explains the notion of „social exclusion” and refers to selected publications on the subject. In the second part, generation 50+ in Poland is characterized with the use of data derived from Central Statistical Office of Poland (GUS) and Public Opinion Research Centre (CBOS). Finally, the third part of the article describes selected market behaviour of people aged 50+ on the basis of reports published by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, research agency ”4P research mix” and as part of SHARE project. Conclusions derived from the analysis of the material are as follows: Polish people 50+ not only are a numerous group and represent high percentage of the Polish population but also are a major segment of consumers (according to market survey, they are active, enterprising, relatively affluent, well-functioning and able to find themselves in a turbulent market environment).
