Summary/Abstract: Social consumption undergoes continuous change as a result of economic factors, political transformation or socio-demographic-cultural changes. Subject to consumption are both individuals (consumers) and households. In the case of both groups, actions taken on the market are aimed at meeting consumer needs. Based on individual hierarchy of needs, one makes choices about buying certain goods and services, takes decisions about allocating his/her money and chooses the best way of satisfying his/her needs. The paper is aimed at answering two questions, namely in which direction the market behaviour of Polish consumers goes and whether any new phenomena affect this behaviour?
