Summary/Abstract: The traffic and transport area is found in all cities, but it varies depending on size and geographical location. Consequently, not every city includes each and every type of means of transport. Nowadays, traffic is experiencing a series of problems, the most important of which is the automobile traffic flow, with the numbers of cars increasing by the year and the street dimensions remaining the same. This is the reason for which traffic jams occur in big cities where the centre is heavily circulated during peak hours. In order to avoid such traffic jams, there is a growing need for redimensioning the street capacity on several modules (lanes). The transport area includes various specialized spaces such as bus terminals, railway stations, local and county roadways, etc. In the majority of the cases, these spaces are located on the outskirts of the cities especially due to the availability of space and facilities, etc. In the city of Pitesti, the most developed mode of transport is road transport, followed by rail transport. The total surface of the transport area has seen a rise through the years. The economical development of the city has significantly influenced the development of the transport area of the territory under discussion.
