Translation strategies of phraseological units

Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the various strategies of translation used in the case of idiomatic expressions. We have chosen for this purpose the novel “Pantaleón y las visitadoras”, by Mario Vargas Llosa, translated into Romanian by Mihai Cantuniari. By means of a comparative analysis of the two versions, the Spanish language original and the Romanian translation, we shall explain and comment on the techniques of translation used for idiomatic expressions.
