Summary/Abstract: The paper offers an account of the author’s experience with using multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) as a successive step of cluster analysis of extensive sociological nominal data (see Keskinova, Tchalakov, 2001) collected by the authors during a representative sample survey of advanced communications and telematics firms in Romania, Macedonia and Bulgaria. The introductory part provides a brief theoretical outline of the method, while the second part traces the procedures of its practical implementation in data analysis and the requirement the method imposes for the initial database. The introduction serves to tune in on the initial theoretical framework of the study (techno-economic networks approach) and the main instruments of MCA, which lead to what the authors call “indirect methods of network analysis”. The concluding part of the paper presents some concrete procedures, which facilitate the process of interpretation of MCA results.
