Commentary on translations in Macedonian language, published in 2014

Summary/Abstract: There were five translations of Polish literature into Macedonian published in 2014. All of them are novels, but they show the diversity in genres in contemporary Polish literature, because all of them are from the last twenty-five years. It seems that the choice is made on the criteria which are imposed by the foundations financially supporting part of the publication, which is almost the only possible way for the small Macedonian publishers to publish Polish literature. The ensuing problems in translation appear to be of a cultural nature: in most of the books it is the colloqual or dialectal language, as well as transfer of the typical Polish reality from the post-war period.
