Summary/Abstract: The Social Dramaturgy of Erving Goffman is one of the most famous social theories of the second half of the twentieth century, which also had repercussions in the field of language analysis. The agonal dimension of social relations constitutes one of the strong points of this theory, one of the staging locations of it, being the conversational level of daily language practice. This study is a direct application of Goffman’s theory in the field of conversation analysis, highlighting the structural relationship between the concepts of “agon” and “face” found in the work of the American sociologist.
