Summary/Abstract: Ionesco’s theater offers us the show of a humanity reduced to its conditioned reflexes. When laughter offers us the image of our own limits he will mean lucidity, that is awareness and salvation. Our approach of Eugene Ionesco’s theater was effectivelly commanded by this aesthetics. An aesthetics resulting from a thinking suffering from the incomprehensible and which represents, after all, a ludic and consciuos combination of word and language. The accent is put on the world of laughter and on tte mechanisms which produce it according to Bergson, but the perspective is enlarged since the words and mechanical arguments of Ionesco’s characters are submitted to a minute analysis.
