Summary/Abstract: In his works upon the Italian Renaissance, Ivan Shishmanov shows special interest to not so well known in Bulgaria author – Ludovico Ariosto. One of the reasons for that is quite logical and objective – Ariosto is a remarkable figure in the literature of the Italian Renaissance. The other reason is emotionally subjective – the presence of a Bulgarian theme in his emblematic work – the poem “The furious Orlando” (Orlando furioso).
