Registered unemployment in Poland in 2008–2015

Summary/Abstract: The article provides an overview of the registered unemployment in Poland with particular focus on the powiats (second-level unit of local government) with the highest unemployment rate. It highlights permanent significant differences among Polish voivodeships (country’s highest level of administrative subdivision) regarding unemployment which has become a serious social and economic problem in a few of them. It also emphasizes the fact that the situation is more complicated when unemployment is analyzed on the powiat level, for instance the powiats with the highest registered unemployment rate are clustered just in a few regions of Poland.
