Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present the activities of non-governmental organization that sparks both daily living and social life of the elderly living in a housing estate community. The social cooperative in question was heavily supported by the social-oriented companies operating in the district. It employs the unemployed and at the same time supports the local community to meet its basic needs in the field of livelihood, health and culture. In this case the non-governmental organization fulfills the responsibilities of both an housing estate and social welfare institutions in helping the elderly people in the district. The activities in turn triggered the idea of a self-help and supported the integration of the neighborhood residents of the housing estate.
