Summary/Abstract: The provisions in the extant collections of ecclesiastical law provide new, hitherto unused, direct and indirect data on some aspects of the history of the Bulgarian State and its law such as the witness institution, the release from or subjection to bondage, the conclusion and discontinuation of marriage, succession in particular cases, and agricultural questions. The information from the two monuments used, both datable to the fourteenth century (manuscript No. 1160 from the Church Institute of Historical Archives and manuscript No. 76 from the Khludov collection), may serve as a confirmation of certain hypothetical aspects of the juridicial system of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom.
