Summary/Abstract: The main objective of the paper was to determine the impact of micro and small enterprises on the natural environment and to identify their operations related to sustainable development. In particular, the scope and subject of the research concerned: determination of knowledge of owners of micro and small enterprises and persons who manage those enterprises concerning the impact of their organisations on the natural environment; operations taken within the last 3 years by micro and small enterprises in order to reduce their negative impact on the natural environment; needs and areas where environment-friendly actions should be implemented at micro and small enterprises. The quantitative research was held by PAPI/CATI technique and covered a sample of 50 representatives of enterprises located throughout Poland. The research revealed that micro and small enterprises still have negative impact on the natural environment and the scope of their operations related to sustainable development should be considered unsatisfactory.
