Summary/Abstract: Problems of sustainable development are reflected in various documents and guidelines of the EU, including the Lisbon strategy. The article will address issues of regional development in relation to the objectives of the Lisbon strategy and the possibility of achieving them. The author analyzes the current stage of implementation of strategic objectives and the ability to achieve the objectives in 2020 in the region of Lower Silesia. Lower Silesia is perceived as a region with a high competitive position in the country. However, the region is diverse internally in terms of development problems and potentials. The Europe 2020 strategy sets priorities to contribute to the competitiveness of EU regions with the assumption that this development will take place in a sustainable way. At the regional level a document which forms the basis of policy is the strategy of development voivodeship. This article aims to identify those aspects of the implementation of strategic objectives in the region that require additional attention of regional and national authorities so that their implementation is as close as possible to achieve the stated objectives. The study used statistical data analysis and strategic documents of the EU and Lower Silesia.
