Summary/Abstract: The article presents activities and actions of the public authorities related to the Oder River, especially programs of restoring and enhancing its transport function. Statistics illustrate progressive regression. It is a starting point for the discussion on the necessity and feasibility of the reversion of the marginalization of inland waterways transport in Poland and Europe.
