Summary/Abstract: The man has always had a deeply developed sense of collecting various items. Such a passion was the foundation not only for institutional collecting, but also has had an influence on the formation of private collections. Often, because of such collections many things can be conserved for posterity. Simple sacred devotional images are among others such objects which are underrated. The tradition of small devotional pictures has its source in the Middle Ages. Over the next centuries, changed both the form and content of the religious pictures. Many of them were real works of art. The lapse of time, wars, historical storms and natural disasters caused that very few old sacred devotional pictures were conserved. Therefore it is right to preserve this type of collections from further damages. Many exhibitions, publications and lectures are organized by collectors and enthusiasts to make closer the theme of religious sacred images. The religious sacred pictures, despite their modest importance, are very precious cultural heritage of catholic culture, so it is important to take care to preserve them for future generations.
