Summary/Abstract: Since language is systemic, a lexical unit should be characterized by a complete morphological paradigm. Yet, in speech a lexical unit appears in a certain set of forms, which is determined by the communicative and cognitive needs of native speakers. In the present article, we apply the notion of grammatical profiles of a word to lexical groups of nouns, taking the lexical groups «Clothes», «Instrument» and «Time measurement» in Russian as a testing ground. As a result, we show that grammatical profiles are associated with the structure of lexical groups.
