Summary/Abstract: The paper treats a possibility of verbal use without obligatory syntactic environment (arguments), including in particular right valency. Four special speech situations are defined, in which the verb loses its organizing function. These are: a dictionary article, a generalizing context, one-phrase texts with general-reference sense and coordinative word-combination. Examples from Russian, Bulgarian, Polish, Czech and Slovak are given.
