Summary/Abstract: The Sabbath – Medium of Transfiguration and Anticipation of Eternity. We have not inherited a systematic treaty on the seventh day from the Fathers of the Church. However, the subject was of great interest to them, fact obvious in the complexity of their discourse regarding the issue. Consequently, the paper proposes a brief presentation of the theme within the works of four different authors: Firstly, Clement of Alexandria, bearing the marks of philosophical reflection; secondly, Saint Cyril of Alexandria with an interpretation of the Sabbath in the light of the fourth Gospel; thirdly, Saint Maximus the Confessor with a spiritualmystical approach; and last, but not least, Saint Symeon the New Theologian who blends in biblical exegesis with theological and spiritual reflections.
