Summary/Abstract: Shabbath – A Space of Martyria and Encounter with God in Celebration. Points of Reference in the Writings of Josephus Flavius and Philo of Alexandria. The paper proposes an approach of the Sabbath from a Jewish double perspective: Josephus Flavius emphasizes its martyrical dimension, while Philo of Alexandria stresses on its spiritual and mystical dimension. These two perspectives enrich our perception of the Sabbath as presented by the Holy Scripture, with nuances of interpretation proper to the Jewish tradition.
