Impact of EU funds on development of West Pomeranian communes

Summary/Abstract: The funds of the European Union are financial means allocated and used to the purpose of supporting and the restructuring of economies of member states. Poland is receiving the European Social Fund, the European Regional Development Fund and the Cohesion Fund. On the example of chosen communes of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship (Chojna, Suchań) authors described investments incurred thanks to funding partially from EU funds. Many investments contributed to the improvement in the development of the region, among others improving the cultural cross-border cooperation took place, they set about to the revitalization of railway stations, bicycle routes came into existence. West Pomeranian Voivodeship belongs to those regions that have made use of the EU financial resources from the rural development programme for years 2007–2013, for the creation and development of micro-enterprises, into non-agricultural activities.
