Summary/Abstract: The text focuses on the media image of Italy in four publications in the press until the First World War. Very well are estimated the resources of the country. The climate is estimated as hot, healthy, “joyful”, “tender and pleasant”. Italy is presented as a country with rich cultural history that has given a lot of talents. It is also mentioned the big number of the universities, scientific centers and technical schools in the country. One of the most interesting moments is the psychological portrait of the Italians. As a leading feature is mentioned their esthetics and love towards arts. Italians are described as very well educated people who love to sing and are very good in paintings, sculpture and mosaics. For Italian disadvantages are mentioned their laziness and prejudice. The lack of “strength” is an obstacle for the Italians to be good cultivators and to have maximum profit from fruitful Italian land.
