Summary/Abstract: This article focuses in the diversity of colors used mainly in the decoration of Albanian folk costumes and textiles. The main question in the article is whether is it possible to investigate the colors througn some traditional decorative systems of colors? The investigation and study of color combinations may be oriented through three main systems; one color system, two color systems and many colors system. Furthermore these systems can not be distinguished only on the artistic plan, but esthetically in a combination with folk traditional symbology. For example, the use of dominated colors in the traditional costumes from white to red or to the black, it is understood by folk mentality as a symbolic of life circle-birth, marriage, death (clothing for children, bride and elder people). In other cases it is noticed the domination of two or more colors. On another aspect, the domination of one color or another, reflect the regional and national characteristics in Albanian folk costumes, which deserve major attention for comparisons.
