Summary/Abstract: The study covered the years 2009-2011 and its aim was to determine the technical efficiency of dairy farms, depending on the size of the cow herd using the DEA and SFA methods. The selection of variables for the study was made according to the formal criterion. The average technical efficiency for dairy farms surveyed population calculated for the model CCR ranged from 76.9% to 79.9%. Considering the size of a herd of cows it should be stated that in the model farms with the largest herds of cows (> 30 <40 and> 40 cows) were characterized by the highest ratios of technical efficiency in the analyzed period. The average results of the BCC model in 2009-2011 ranged from 82.4% to 84.4%. Farms with the smallest (<10 cows) and the highest (> 40 cows) number of cows were characterized by the highest ratios of technical efficiency. The average coefficient of technical efficiency of the SFA in the period ranged from 79.0% (2010) to 94.7% (2011). In the SFA model farms with herds of> 30 <40 and> 40 cows were characterized by the highest ratios of technical efficiency.
