Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to identify the ethical principles that underlie an effective crisis communication. Despite the fact that hundreds of studies and research focus on the important role of communication in crisis management have been done in the past decades, too few of them were concerned about the ethical dimension of this communication. Most of the studies offer a prescriptive approach of the crisis communication and they are based on numerous examples of specific cases of good or bad management of crisis situations. By analyzing some of these cases, we can identified a set of ethical principles that can guide communication in this area, such as the manifestation of honesty and openness, transparency in communication, manifestation of compassion and empathy.
