Summary/Abstract: In this paper verified the hypothesis of the absence of the positive effects of cohesion policy as regards the characteristics of innovation eastern wall compared with the rest of Poland. The study included an analysis of the three basic aspects of innovation: the enablers, giving the possibility of the development of innovation (e.g. human resources for science and technology, foreign capital); enterprises activities, which is characteristic for the activities of enterprises in terms of innovation, as well as outputs of innovative activity. The analysis showed that both the level and pace of socio-economic indicators of innovation measured for the east wall in the time period 2004–2013 are less potent than the rest of Poland.
