Summary/Abstract: In the interwar period Polish students accepted political divisions within society and appropriated both its principles and its forms of organization. The first official inauguration of the new academic year at the Lviv Technical Academy in the times of the political stability of the country took place as late as on the 10th January 1921. One of the organizations established at the Academy was The Mutual Aid Society which ran student re-search circles, religious and self-help associations. Other forms of its activity included the running of libraries, reading rooms, student’s hostels or canteens. It also helped students find work and or-ganized loans for those in need of financial assistance. In the period analyzed in the article, the Society went through different stages of development. Throughout the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century it represented a vast majority of the students of the Lviv Technical Academy. Like other students’ organizations, it played a crucial role in shaping values and standards of conduct of the academic youth in the culturally diverse community of Lviv. One of its goals in the period was the integration of various students' organizations throughout Poland.
