Summary/Abstract: By the reception of Roman Law it is understood an acceptance of Roman Law as a positive law in medieval Europe. It is an uniqe example in history that the legal system of an empire and civilization is applied outside its borders, and even after its collapse. Roman law was not only applied, it also became and remained the foundation of the laws of continental Europe. The author deals with the reception of Roman Law and its impact on the legal systems of the countries of continental Europe, and especially in the Civil Code and the development of civil rights. The reception of Roman Law is observed through the analysis of Justinian's codification - Corpus iuris civilis, in which are in original form of collected and preserved all creations and achievements of Roman legal theory of the classical period.
