Aspects of cultural studies of confrontative research on language politeness

Summary/Abstract: This article addresses the question of functional equivalence of polite expressions and forms of address in the Polish language in comparison with German and English (British English). The aim of this paper is to verify the thesis that no or rough equivalence is due to cultural factors. The author of the article endeavors to answer the question of whether the application of the popular concept of culture put forward by Edward Hall and Geert Hofstede may help achieve this objective.
