Summary/Abstract: What is the position of small and medium countries, and what is our position in the globalization of international relations? Is making alliances and ‘hiding under the umbrella’ of the big the only way of protection of national interests? What is the destiny of the so called marionette regimes in history and today? Is there a place for the independent position and protection of small countries’ national interests in the stated globalization of international relations? Is isolation from globalization processes the solution, or it can be found in joining those processes in a country’s economic and political interest? What are other small and medium countries’ experiences? The position of Serbia in contemporary international relations.
