PROBLEMS OF PROTECTION OF REGISTRY MATERIAL IN THE AREA OF THE STATE ARCHIVE IN OSIJEK

Summary/Abstract: The State Archives of Osijek have the jurisdiction over the registry archives in the Osijek-Baranja County, Vukovarsko-Srijemska County, and parts of Požega-Slavonia and Virovitica-Podravina County. The oversight of over 850 registry is organized, planned and performed by the external office of the State Archives in Osijek, where two archivists and one archive technician are working, and the supervision of the archives of the Vukovar-Srijem County is carried out by employees at the Archival Collection Center in Vinkovci. During the years of the work of the external service, files of all registry and archive holders were created, enabling and facilitating current work on the field. Changes in the political and economic system, which have caused changes in ownership over the registry and archival material, are also tailored to the work of the external service. Systematic filing of the files of all creators and holders of registry materials created a good basis for continuing the work in the post-war period: the registration of damaged materials and the control of the remaining material that should have been protected or taken over in the Archive.
