Summary/Abstract: Mavromati is a surname formed by the joining, in Neo-Greek, of two words: an adjective (mavros=black) and a noun (mati = eyes), meaning black eyed. It is quite spread in all the Hellenistic area, both in Greece and the Diaspora. People, facts, events, scattered like the late autumn leaves gathered and carefully pressed into herbariums, where they do not dry. People from all Europe - Greeks, Russians, Belgians -, strongly attached to the lands in the north of the Danube and feeling Romanians.
