Summary/Abstract: The most important moment in the communist phase of the Romanian education system was without doubt the education reform in 1848. On the 7 of October 1948 the members of the Political Bureau met to discuss the problem of establishing institutes and colleges. The Romanian leaders decided to establish three categories for the upper education: Colleges, Polytechnic University and Institutes. The communist wanted then to increase the humanist profile ones, as they had plans to develop the industry, but they did not have the experience to make them real. As usual their "leading star" was the Soviet Union.
