Summary/Abstract: The study constitutes the first of the series of three articles dealing with the problems of disparities in a level of meeting needs of customers that concern services of retail trade. In this paper, the consumers’ evaluation of price policies adopted by retail outlets offering food in Podkarpacie was analysed. This aspect was connected with opinions about quality of products offered by retail sale units. As a main dimension of the analysis there were adopted opinions of customers who realise purchases in shops in Podkarpacie and assessed enterprises that conduct their activities in urban and rural areas. The bases for conclusions are created by results of the author’s research conducted with the use of a questionnaire interview among customers of retail trade in Podkarpacie at the turn of 2012-2013.
