Sustainable Quality of Life vs Sustainable Consumption and Environmental Consumer Behaviour

Summary/Abstract: Sustainable quality of life is closely related to the model of sustainable consumption patterns. Implementation of the assumptions of this model requires certain environmental behaviour of consumers. Hence, the purpose of this article is to answer the question whether the changes in the behaviour of Polish consumers illustrate sustainable consumption or not? In order to achieve the objective of the study the author presents: (1) the relation between sustainable quality of life and sustainable consumption explaining synthetically the essence of the two categories, (2) changes in the ecological behaviour of Polish consumers to illustrate progress in getting sustainability of consumption in 2011-2012. In the empirical part, the author uses the available reports on environmental awareness and behaviour of consumers and on energy efficiency.
